Deputy Finance Minister Visited Liquor Shops near Educational Places


Mr. Pruttichai Damrongrat, the deputy Finance Minister, together with the officials of the Excise Department, visited liquor shops near the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce after he received numerous complaints that there are lots of illegal liquor shops around schools and universities. To resolve this issue, he ordered the Excise Department to strictly control the issuing of the licenses and proposed the revision of the Alcohol Beverage Act with an increase of license fee from 200 baht per year to 3,600-7,200 baht per year to make it more difficult to obtain the licenses, October 7 2009.
